I’m back!

After nearly nine months of blog silence, I have decided to come back. I wish that I had some phenomenal reasons for not posting for so long, but I don’t. The truth is that life just got in the way.

Quite a bit has changed in these last nine months. I’ve moved to a brand new apartment (no more roommates for me!), started working a second job, gone on more first dates that I ever have, and got to watch my baby brother say his wedding vows!

I also did something this week that I’ve never before done. I signed up for internet dating!  And let me tell you.. wow! There are definitely some interesting people on there. So far I’ve had a 44 year old ask me to come over to his house to “drink some beers and relax by the pool”.. the first time we had ever emailed(!!), had someone offer to sign over their trust fund, and had another guy ask if he could be my b**ch! Really? I’m trying to keep an open mind about it and hope that there are some decent guys on there! Have any of ya’ll ever done the whole internet dating thing? I’ve really only ever heard horror stories about it. I have yet to know someone personally where internet dating has worked out for them. Maybe I’ll be the first! =)

Meme time..

This last week has been a complete nightmare for me! I’m not going to go into huge details right now, I just don’t have the energy to, but I’ll give you a quick recap.

In one week I had my car towed and had to pay $400 to get it out, had my car battery die and had to replace it, got in a fight with my best friend, hosted a going away 80’s themed party at my house, and found out that the wedding that I’ve been planning for my brother has been moved from May in Hawaii to March in Texas…. I get to start the planning process all over again! Joy =) And sadly.. that’s not even everything that happenned.

*Sidenote.. can someone please educate me on how to do links? I have looked at the help page over and over again and can not get it to work! I swear I’m not an idiot!

MY FAVORITE THINGS

1. Clothes shop – I love New York & Co. and Express. That’s wear I get most of my work clothes. I also love Target and Old Navy though. Cute clothes for cheap!

2. Furniture shop – I love Pottery Barn and West Elm!

3. City – So far? San Diego! The weather is gorgeous, the houses are amazing, and there are good looking men in uniforms everywhere =)

4. Sweets – There are so many sweets that I love! Anything chocolate, pumpkin bread w/cream cheese frosting, cheesecake… and the list goes on!

5. Drink – I drink mostly water, Dr. Pepper, and sweet tea.

6. Music – I love music and listen to so many different bands! I love Randy Rogers Band, Eli Young Band, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Rascall Flats and Keith Urban for country. I also love Damien Rice, Ray LaMontague, Iron and Wine and Jason Mraz.

7. TV – I’ve got a pretty long list for this as well. Grey’s Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Army Wives, The Hills, One Tree Hill, Ace of Cakes, almost anything on the History Channel, and I’ve recently become addicted to Intervention on A&E.

8. Film – I’m a sucker for any Disney film.. but my favorites are Cinderella, The Lion King, Sleeping Beauty, and the Fox and the Hound. I also love with Audrey Hepburn.. epsecially Sabrina, Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. A few of my other favorites are Casablanca, Sweet Home Alabama, Mean Girls, and The Philadephia Story.
9. Workout – I do a work out video at home a couple of times a week. My favorites are the pilates or any boot camp video.

10. Pastries – Do the Cranberry Bliss Bars from Starbucks count?

11. Coffee – I am currently addicted to the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks… but in a few weeks I’ll switch the Peppermint Mocha. I love holiday drinks =)

It’s been a while…

So I officially stink as a blogger! My last post was in what.. August? That’s ridiculous! I’m just going to do a quick bullet style post today to update, but will resume regular posting tomorrow =)

~ I’m still dating the boy, Becks. Things have been kind of weird lately… almost like he’s trying to pull back a little bit. We’ve only been dating 2 months though, so I’m trying not to worry about it. We’ll actually be seeing each other tonight and tomorrow night, so hopefully I’m just being a girl thinking he’s pulling back =)

~ I’ve decided not to leave my current job. I had been looking for about a month and even went on a couple of interviews but ultimately decided that I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity right now. Plus I played hard ball with the owners and convinced them to do 100% tuition reimbursement!

~ I am 100% loving fall! Granted, I live in Texas, so fall hasn’t really hit yet but football season definitely has! Plus cooler weather means cute sweaters and boots and I can’t wait to break them out!

~ Oh! I had a random mini-celeb sighting a couple of weeks ago. I was out for Becks birthday and I notice a guy that looks familiar standing a couple of people down from me at the bar. I take a closer look and it’s Brian from The Bachelorette! Being the goofy girl that I am, I just had to go up to him and get a picture.

As cute as he his.. he’s a bit of a jerk. I was rather disappointed!

Blog Slacker!

It’s official, I am a blog slacker! I wish I could blame the lack of posts on an incredibly exciting month… but, I can’t. Since I could probably type a novel since it’s been so long, I’ll post in my favorite style.. bullet style!! =)

~ I went and floated the river with some friends last month. Had a blast! My (male) roommate decided that it would be fun to run around the hotel room (and entire hotel property) naked. Three times! Needless to say, his girlfriend didn’t find it too funny!! And, another thing that only happens to me, my tube got a hole in it while floating down the river. Thankfully I had another tube and was able to switch out mid-river. After I was able to switch tubes, it starts raining on us. Not just a sprinkle… a pouring, lightning crashing and thunder rolling rain. For an hour. Thankfully we are all pretty good natured about random things happening, so it wasn’t too bad!

~ One of my roommates is moving out, and my best friend is moving in at the beginning of August. I’m a little apprehensive of living with my best friend, B. She’s awesome and we’ve been friends for 15 years, but she tends to be a bit of a drama queen. Hopefully it won’t get too bad!

~ Work has been crazy busy lately. It seems like I get more responsibility each week. It’s definitely stressful, but it makes me that much more thankful for the weekends =)

~ I’m about to book my trip to Hawaii next year for my brother’s wedding. I’ll be staying for almost 2 weeks, so that’s going to be a HUGE dent in my credit card. Oh well… it will definitely be worth it!

~ Life in the dating world is still pretty much suck-tastic. I’m crossing my fingers that changes soon… being single at my LITTLE brother’s wedding is not something I’m looking forward to.

Okay, enough catching up. Now I just need to go and catch up on reading blogs, and I’ll be set!

 

Quarter Life Crisis

Even though I just turned 25 in February, I have felt pretty luck that I hadn’t had my own version of a quarter life crisis. Well that luck ended this week!

I’ve been feeling pretty unsatisfied with my job lately. Unsatisfied and horribly burnt out. When I first started with this company two years ago, it was great. Every day was something new, I was never at my desk for more than an hour at a time, and my day flew by. That’s, unfortunately, not the case anymore.

I used to get to work at least 30 minutes early. Now I’m having to force myself to get here on time. I used to stay busy all day long and love my job. Now I’m doing just what I have to, and the day is dragging. I know that property management isn’t what I want to do forever, I’m just not sure what I DO want to do forever!!

I worked in preschool education while in college. I definitely know that I don’t want to be in a classroom all day long, but I can’t help but feel that God is pushing me somewhere in that direction again. I was also looking into getting my wedding coordination license, but do I really want to have to work every single Friday and Saturday? Not particularly.

I’ve always felt that I would love to work with some sort of child-geared non-profit organization. I just have no idea how to get started in that line of work.

As you can see, I’m all over the page right now! Anyone have any suggestions?

 

Just one of those days…

Have you ever had one of those days where it seems like everything is coming at you at once? Yesterday was that day for me.

 – Work was INSANE yesterday. We have a plethora of new properties coming online, so that means tons of extra work. Not online that, but it’s starting to become the busy time of the year for the multi-family side of my job and I had people in my office non-stop.

– My little brother and his fiance are coming home tomorrow. He’s deploying to Afghanistan on May 1st, so I’m throwing them an engagement party this weekend before he leaves. I’d been planning on having it at a certain park for over a month now. Yesterday at about 5:00pm, I got a call from someone I know at the city and she told me that they had decided to close the park this weekend in preparation for a festival next weekend. I’m not going to lie.. I went into minor panic mode. Thankfully I have some contacts that were able to help me secure a second park not far from the original location to host it. Now I just have to get new directions and maps to the 50+ guests =)

– My little brother has also decided that he wants to purchase a new car for his fiance when they are in town this weekend. Since he lives in California, I’ve been doing a lot of the leg work for him here. Just trying to get all the specs on certain vehicles to him, and then credit apps back and forth between him and the dealerships took up my entire lunch. Poop sandwich on that!

– Then to top all of that off… one of my best friends is having some marital problems. I’ll try and break it down in the simplest terms. Her husband just got home from Iraq, while he was delpoyed she developed quite a friendship with another man. Her husband found out.. and is, obviously, not very happy about it. He’s been calling me non-stop trying to figure out the best way to save their marriage. I’ll have him on the phone, and then have her beeping in.. and vice versa. It’s enough to make this single girl never want to get married!! (Well.. almost!) =)

Thankfully, Tuesday ended on a pretty good note. I made some great deer meat tacos last night and my roommates were full of praises =)
