April 2008

Have you ever had one of those days where it seems like everything is coming at you at once? Yesterday was that day for me.

 – Work was INSANE yesterday. We have a plethora of new properties coming online, so that means tons of extra work. Not online that, but it’s starting to become the busy time of the year for the multi-family side of my job and I had people in my office non-stop.

– My little brother and his fiance are coming home tomorrow. He’s deploying to Afghanistan on May 1st, so I’m throwing them an engagement party this weekend before he leaves. I’d been planning on having it at a certain park for over a month now. Yesterday at about 5:00pm, I got a call from someone I know at the city and she told me that they had decided to close the park this weekend in preparation for a festival next weekend. I’m not going to lie.. I went into minor panic mode. Thankfully I have some contacts that were able to help me secure a second park not far from the original location to host it. Now I just have to get new directions and maps to the 50+ guests =)

– My little brother has also decided that he wants to purchase a new car for his fiance when they are in town this weekend. Since he lives in California, I’ve been doing a lot of the leg work for him here. Just trying to get all the specs on certain vehicles to him, and then credit apps back and forth between him and the dealerships took up my entire lunch. Poop sandwich on that!

– Then to top all of that off… one of my best friends is having some marital problems. I’ll try and break it down in the simplest terms. Her husband just got home from Iraq, while he was delpoyed she developed quite a friendship with another man. Her husband found out.. and is, obviously, not very happy about it. He’s been calling me non-stop trying to figure out the best way to save their marriage. I’ll have him on the phone, and then have her beeping in.. and vice versa. It’s enough to make this single girl never want to get married!! (Well.. almost!) =)

Thankfully, Tuesday ended on a pretty good note. I made some great deer meat tacos last night and my roommates were full of praises =)

I’ve decided I’m going to start a new weekly feature called Monday’s Top 5… This week it will be my Top 5 Reasons not to date a 21 year old =)

1. 21 year olds think it’s OK to make 1st date plans with only a couple of hours notice.

2. 21 year olds think buying my ticket at the Dollar Theater is splurging. (His own words.)

3. 21 year olds think it’s classy to bring a flask filled with Maker’s Mark to the movie theater.

4. 21 year olds think it’s OK to have their big brother call and make plans.

5. And finally… 21 year olds think it’s OK to BRING their big brother on a date with them!!!

As you can probably tell… the blind date didn’t go so great. Oh well… at least I had a funny story to tell my roommates when I got home =)

Monday night was one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time. My best friend, B, and I went to the Bon Jovi concert! Can I please just say how un-natural it was for me to be as turned on as I was by two 40 year old men =) (Jon and Richie Sambora)

Not only did Bon Jovi put on a kick ass show.. but Daughtry opened for them =) I am a lover of all things Daughtry! So to recap… I got to stare at 3 ridiculously good looking men singing their hearts out, jamming on the guitar, and basically making me swoon =)

The rough thing about going to a concert on a Monday night is Tuesday morning. We took the train to the concert, so we didn’t get home until after 1am. Considering I get up at 6am for work.. that was brutal. So worth it though!

On a different note… I have a blind date set up for this weekend. With a guy that my car salesman is setting me up with. (Random I know) Who is… only 21!! I’m honestly not excited about this date at all, but I figure what the heck, I can be a cougar for one night.. right?? There is another new potential as well. I’ve hung out with him numerous times in the past, but now all of a sudden I am wanting to see him more often… interesting. I found out over the weekend that he is interested in me, so I’m not sure if my interest is genuine or stems from that knowledge.

Happy Humpday! =)

Consists of no roommates, a bottle of wine, and a handful of Audrey Hepburn movies.

Last night some friends from high school called, so I decided to stop by their house for a quick visit. Wow… it was a very quick visit indeed. One of the guys (who I haven’t seen in over 5 years) was talking about how he just got out of prison (prison?!?!) 4 months ago and the half way house one week ago. He almost sounded as if he was bragging about it. Even though I live less than an hour from the town that I went to high school in, I usually only see those people once or twice a year.

I’m off to join Audrey with a great glass of Chianti. Tootles =)

I already told my mom about this blog!! I can not keep anything from her to save my life. Thankfully she won’t tell anyone else. Hi Mom!! =)

I’m doing it.. for real this time. I’m starting a new blog. One where I won’t censor myself. One where I’ll finally speak (or type) what’s really on my mind. One that I won’t tell my family about. And apparently one where I start ever sentence with the word “one”. =)

Not telling my family about this blog will probably be one of the hardest things I’ve done in a long time. My family is very open… there’s not much that they don’t know about me. I’ll be updating soon…
